In the world of saltwater fishing boats, one name stands out—MAKO®. Our earliest designs literally defined saltwater fishing boats for generations to come. While we don’t lay claim to inventing the center console design, there's no disputing that MAKO was responsible for refining and popularizing it. Our initial models, the 17-, 19- and 22-foot center consoles, became instant hits with anglers who knew a good thing when they saw it. But that was just the beginning. As anglers bought and ran them throughtout the '60s, '70s and '80s, the MAKO reputation for rugged durability became legendary. Not only did these boats share an identity with their mako shark namesake, they were every bit as tough.

As our reputation grew, so did our innovations. Our historic MAKO Deep V 25 introduced the first true Deep V hull. Its stretegically placed lifting strakes raised the hull higher out of the water at any speed, while its wide chines delivered a drier ride and reduced roll at rest—important attributes for deep sea fishing. And its range was simply unheard of in boats of its size. MAKO Deep V 25 models were often seen offshore, fishing alongside boats more than twice their length. The Deep V 25 made its mark by winning prestigious billfish tournaments, and became the benchmark of a whole new class of bluewater-capable center console boats.
