Rodriquez Yachts
In 1887, Leopoldo Rodriquez built and established
a small repair yard in the city of Messina, located on the Eastern
tip of Sicily. This yard prospered despite the effects of two significant
events: An earthquake in 1908 that destroyed the city and killed
half the population followed by the outbreak of World War I. In
the 1950's experimentation began on hydrofoils and Carlo Rodriquez
seized upon the success of "Freccia del Sole" and established
Aliscafi SNAV in 1958 to operate hydrofoils and prove their commercial
viability. The first commercial service was established between
Sicily and the Italian mainland across the straights of Messina
but quickly expanded to other routes.
Rodriquez yachts have been involved in many forms
of nautical mass transit and since May 2004 Rodriquez belongs to
IMMSI, a big italian industrial group listed at Milan stock exchange,
which further strengths the position of the yard as well as provide
for the development of Rodriquez. After more than 100 years Rodriquez
Cantieri Navali S.p.A. has become one of the leading international
shipyards whose diverse product range is based on advanced technological
